The inescapable undertones of signification that accompany the sign are many indeed, including the melancholy of the chase never actualized, the passion and joy of the pursuit nonetheless, the embodiment of dreams and ideals that aren’t attained, the bittersweet of a nation that has always felt slighted. Here in this nebulous cloud of meanings, the chase and the stag are set as a binary, a duality that seemingly cannot function without each other, so incestuous that they almost function as the same thing, the stag becoming the symbol for the chase itself.
