The Csodaszarvas, MFA Graduate Thesis Project
The stag in the Hungarian legends is white, the color of purity, light, perfection. White is the synthesis of all of the colors in the spectrum, rendering it the association of an absolute, both the beginning and the end and their union and it is this tautology that is embodied within the stag itself.
The stag appears as a different man every time he is seen. In this way it is an image, a chimera, not specific character. In this installation, the stag was very regally portrayed by Michael Barrett.
