Mische Technique (oil ad egg tempera) on canvasboard
16" x 20"

Bodhicitta means open heart. It’s the warrior who approaches life with an open heart because it takes courage and bravery to feel everything. But that of course, is a strength, not a weakness as it’s sometimes presented. So here, she is holding two parrots that have plucked their feathers. Parrots express their anxieties by plucking. In effect, they wear their emotions on the outside. We as humans don’t do that very often. We hide them away. This piece is about feeling deeply and letting that come out as strength and healing and the rainbow and poppies coming from her heart is the expression of that feeling moving out into the world for others to feel as well.
