The Egyptians believed in two souls. The "Ba" was the soul that watched over your physical body while you were being prepared for the afterlife. With the deceased individual's head and a bird body, it sat as guardian while your soul went through the rebirth process in the underworld. The "Ka" was the sould that then lived for you in the afterlife once the judgement and rebirthing process was complete.
This is my "Ba" with my head wearing the crown of Isis and my parrot, Tinga's body. The circles in the background are Native American Spirit wheels.
